Fredy Clue

Nordic folk music, identity and evolving traditions

This year’s house artist Fredy Clue is a Gothenburg-based folk musician who brings together nyckelharpa and voice in contemporary Nordic folk music. Original compositions and Swedish traditions meet stories about identity and queer life. Fredy released the EP “Vill du leka?” in 2023.

Together with textile designer Ida Björs, Fredy created Bäckadräkten, Sweden’s first folk costume for everyone regardless of gender. Combining elements of traditional men’s and women’s costumes, it explores how cultural heritage can evolve with the people who wear it.

Bäckadräkten has attracted international attention and is part of the permanent exhibitions at the Röhsska design museum in Gothenburg and Kulturen in Lund. At the festival, you can meet Fredy in concert, a family performance and an artist talk.
