Nyckelharpspop, live loops and a folk costume for everyone
Fredy Clue is the festival's house artist for 2026. The Gothenburg-based artist opens the nyckelharpa towards pop, electronica and live soundscapes, while inviting us into a story of folk costume as something everyone can take part in.
Fredy Clue calls the music nyckelharpspop. With nyckelharpa, violin, synths and live looping, they bring old sounds together with pop melodies and electronic textures.
The music moves freely between acoustic and electronic worlds. Tradition is not a closed form, but a place to listen, play and create something new.
Together with textile designer Ida Björs, Fredy Clue created Bäckadräkten in 2022. It is Sweden's first unisex folk costume, made as a folk costume for everyone, regardless of gender.
The project connects craft, music and living tradition. Its patterns can be sewn and worn by others, allowing the costume to keep gathering new stories rather than telling only one.
As house artist, Fredy Clue has a special place at Aarhus Folk Festival's 10th anniversary. They bring both the music and the story of Bäckadräkten to Aarhus.
