Skt. Lukas Kirke invites you to a day of singing together that ends with a concert. We start at 13.30 and finish at 20.30, and the day is part of Aarhus Folk Festival.

This year's singing and choir workshop is led by Karen Mose, the singer in Phønix. Karen carries a large repertoire of ballads and folk songs, learned from childhood in a folk music family.

Karen brought those folk songs with her into Phønix, which shapes them into detailed arrangements made for the stage, always with the good story at the centre. Phønix has given the traditional hymn melodies the same warm folk treatment, and those are the ones we will get to know at the workshop.

Karen Mose writes about the workshop: “At the workshop we will work on songs from the Phønix repertoire that we can sing together with the band at the concert afterwards. We will sing in harmony and work on finding a shared voice. We will go into the story of the song, focus on the swing and feel the dance in the music. All of it happens by ear, in the best folk music tradition.”

The day: 13.30 to 18.00 is the workshop, with coffee and dinner along the way (vegan and gluten free), 18.00 to 18.30 is the dress rehearsal with Phønix, 18.30 to 19.00 we get the room ready, and at 19.00 the concert begins.

Dinner, coffee and tea are included in the workshop, and so is taking part in the concert.
