Karen Mose is the singer in Phønix and brings a large repertoire of ballads and folk songs from growing up in a folk music family. The stories in the songs are central both to her performances and to the way she passes the music on.
In Phønix, folk songs meet detailed arrangements, and traditional hymn melodies take on the rhythm and swing of folk music. At the festival’s singing workshop, Karen works with harmony, a shared voice and the feeling of dance in the music. Songs are learned by ear and sung with Phønix at the concert afterwards.
